Gary Neville says Liverpool have a young player who Pep Guardiola would ‘love’ to have at Manchester City

Not many players are capable of swanning into Manchester City and improving them but Gary Neville believes Liverpool have a youngster who would be a hit under Pep Guardiola.

The Man Cit🃏y squad has been so deep and filled with quality in reꦐcent years that it’s become harder and harder for new signings to have an impact.

Even then, the likes of Julian Alvarez get moved on, while Kalvin Phillips is an example of a player who has had ✤a di෴saster since moving to City.

Gary Neville explains why Harvey Elliott would thrive under Pep Guardiola

Speaking about Elliott alongside Jamie C📖arragher on , Neville believes the Liverpool man wou🔜ld be ideal under Pep Guardiola at City.

“I always thought last season when I watched Liverpool that they had more energy abo🀅ut them. He added a lot to Liverpool last year.

“He’s a player I think would be respected in Spain, he’d be amazing in Spain. His technical ability, the way he plays. I think Pep would love him. Like a Bernardo, you think of how he plays. I heard a term the other day that Pep uses like a wide controller, like Greal🎶ish and Bernardo, he’s like that isn’t🐠 he.

“Pep would love him, Spain, there’s no reason why Slot won’t likဣe him. Retains possession, busy, I like him as a player.”

Harvey Elliott in for a big season

It’s quite amazing really that Elliott is still only 21 and the fact he’s made moreℱ than 100 appearances in a Liverpool shirt is testament to him.

Whether or not he is used by Arne Slot remains to be seen.

But, Gary🍒 Neville’s explanation here is a good one and you can very much envisage Elliott doing the businꦦess in a Man City shirt with Guardiola as his manager.

Arne Slot pulled Elliott up in pre-se𒁏ason for not quite getting things right v Arsenal, while Jurgen Klopp loved him, with Klopp admitting he🍌’d have loved to work with Elliott f🦩or another decade.

This season, then, feels like a big one for the formerꦰ Fulham man.
