Gary Neville says Erik ten Hag made a big mistake signing £60m player for Manchester United
Gary Neville has claimed that Erik ten Hag should’ve never signed Casemiro for Manchester United.
The Red Devils are having a difficult campaign, but Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of 25 per cent of the club has brought in a lot of hope. However, correcting old mistakes will take a lot of time – like the signing of Casemiro, which Neville thinks was a big mistake.

Gery Neville says Manchester United should’ve never signed Casemiro
Manchester United signed Casemiro from Real Madrid 18 months ago for an initial fee of £60 million. They’ve also agreed to pay an additional £10 million if certain objective𒀰s are met.
The Brazilian’s arrival definitely raised the excitement levels at Old Trafford. He was, at the time, one of the best defensive midfielders in the world who had won absolutely ev🍌erything at Real Madrid.
Casemiro had a decentღ debut campaign at Manchester United, but his second season in England has been a really difficult one.
He hasn’t played in the Premier League since October due to injury, and there have been several rumours linking him with a move away from the club as well.
The problem for Manchester United is that they paid way over the odds for Casemiro. His current £350,000-a-week () contract does not expire until the summer o♏f 2026 and there’s also an option to extend that by another year.
That’s why Gary Neville has claimed 🐭that Manchester United should’ve never signe🅘d the Brazilian.
While arguing that managers should not have the final say in recruitment, Nevi💫lle said on : “A manager’s job is purelyꩲ to think about the immediate short term and getting results for himself, I.e Casemiro’s an example.
“The perfect example of a short🦋-term signing that’s going to cost in the long te🥂rm.
“That signing should never have gone through a good sporting dir🥂ector, a good owner, a good head of recruitment. That should never have gone through that signing in my opinion.
“That should be a veto, bang, gone!”

Manchester United will struggle to get rid of Casemiro
When he’s fit and in form, Casemiro is a world-class player, there’s no debate there. But, he’s offering nothing to 🀅Manchester United right n🅠ow.
To make things worse, he is their highest-paid player, and the🦂re are very few clubs in the world that would be willing to match that salary to sign the midfielder who will turn 32 next month.
Saudi c🍃lubs are Manchester United’s big hope to get Casemiro off their hands this month, but if they don’t make a move, the Brazilian will likely be stuck at Old Trafford.
That would complicate things for෴ the Red Dﷺevils, who need to move a number of their players on to have any chance of getting back to where they once were.
