‘There’s an example’: Gary Neville claims Trent can learn everything he needs from another current Liverpool star

Gary Neville has been discussing Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and believes there’s already someone at Anfield he can learn from.

Trent has come under fire in recent weeks and had a nightmare weekend once more as Brighton scored three to take a point against the Reds. The full-back was involved in some capacity in all three goals and another former Man United man, Lee Sharpe, has claimed Alexander-Arnold has stopped running back.

However, Neville believes Trent can improve and get back to his best, but believes he needs to look at one of his fellow full-backs to learn.

“I have said there is an example in his own team of where I think the balance is right, and that’s at left-back. Robertson, who I think goes forward, plenty of assists, lots of passes into his strikers, lots of good play into midfield but also he’s competitive. He’s good down that side in terms of his defending,” Neville said on his

Robertson, of course, has been vital for Liverpool over the last few years and plays in a different manner than Alexander-Arnold. However, defensively his work is exceptional and Neville is making a good point here.

TBR’s View: Robertson Ideal For Trent To Study

This is a cracking point from Gary Neville. Alexander-Arnold is a fine player but he could learn a lot from Andy Robertson as well.

Neville believes Trent has all the attacking attributes needed and simply needs to get to work on the defensive side of his game. Whether or not he does do that, remains to be seen.

But Trent remains a quality player and he’ll get back to a level soon enough if he keeps plugging away.
