Gary Neville reacts to ‘strange’ Man United news which came out earlier this week

It’s expected to be a summer of real change at Manchester United following the arrival of INEOS.

Erik ten Hag’s future remains undecided but it would appear that the Dutchman ෴is under considerable pressure after a poor season.

The former Ajax boss will get the opportunity to secure his second trophy since moving to✨ Old Trafford in this month’s FA Cup final.

But a host of names have already been linked with a switch to Manchester, including the likes of Gareth Southgate, Roberto De Zerbi and Graham Potter.

Regardless of who’s in the dugout next season, it’s evident that plenty of 🎶change is needed on the pitch at United.

And the Red Devils have already begun that process, with Raphael Varane confirming this s🌄ummer upon his contr🌺act expiring.

Neville labels Raphael Varane announcement ‘strange’

After starring under Ten Hag las🅺t season, things have proven to be difficult for Varane this ter꧅m.

The Frenchman has managed just 16 starts in the Premier League after struggling with injuries.

It feels like the right time for the 31-year-old to move on, with United looking to bolster their options at centre-back. But Gary Neville has labe🌊lled the timing of the announcement as𒐪 ‘strange’.

“Raphael Varane has just announced that he’s leaving Man United🎃, it’s a strange time, i🎃t feels like, for him to announce it,” he told .

Roy Ke෴ane responded: “Yeah but his contract was up, wasn’🌟t it?”

“But it’s just a strange time with a couple of weeks to go in the𓆉 season,” Neville added.

Keane 🌜went on: “Are thꩲey trying to give him a bit of respect by announcing it now?”

United’s options at centre-back

It’s no secret that United have struggled at centre-back this season, with Lisandro Martinez missing the𝔉 majority of the campaign thrܫough injury.

Ten Hag has been short of options in the position in recent months and United are a💧lready eyeing reinforcements.𝓰

Indeed, it was claimed on Tuesday that they will rival Newcastle United for the signing of free agent 🔴Tosin Adarabioyo

Adarabioyo has impressed at Ful𝕴ham and would certainly improve Uni🍒ted’s depth at centre-back. But given the fact that they are about to lose a world-class defender in Varane, you’d like to think United will target a marquee addition in the position.
