Gary Neville makes exciting prediction about stuttering Manchester City player

Gary Neville has made an exciting prediction when asked about stuttering Manchester City star Ferran Torres, who has endured a tricky start to life in English football – suggesting that the Spaniard will improve under Pep Guardiola going forward.

Man City completed a £21million () move to sign Torres last summer, after he had a hand in 14 goals with Valencia during the 2019-20 season. Valencia were forced to sell Torres on the cheap after a financial problem, worsened by the pandemic.

Torres has scored eight goals for City this season during 29 games, being used out wide and as a false nine. He has only started 18 games this season, though, and completed 90 minutes during just eight games. He is still very young, but has struggled.

Asked about Torres, Manchester United legend Neville gave an exciting prediction that will see City fans renew their faith in Torres – by suggesting the young winger might be another Guardiola example of a player that gets better in his second season.

TBR’s view – Can Torres be Mahrez’s long-term replacement?

The ex-Leicester City winger has been sensational for Manchester City this season. Yes, he has also been in and out of the side with Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling probably first choice, but when used he has provided game-changing moments.

He can do something out of nothing and that has seen him become a crucial part of City’s pursuit of the quadruple. But at 30, City need a replacement and Torres could be that man. Can he be that man? Neville’s prediction gives him hope.
