Gary Neville gives his immediate reaction as West Ham reportedly agree Kalvin Phillips deal
Gary Neville has issued his verdict on the news that Kalvin Phillips looks set to join West Ham United on loan from Manchester City in the January transfer window.
It appears that an end to speculation over the future of Kalvin Phillips is nowꦯ in sight. The 28-year-old has barely played during his time at Manchester City. So it is hardly surprising that he is set to leave.
Newcastle had hoped to sign Phillips this month. But as reported by , a deal has now been agreed between West Ham and Manc🦹hester City for the former Leeds United talisman.
Gary Neville reacts as Kalvin Phillips closes in on West Ham move
Phillips is looking set to travel to London and undergo a medical a🌟head of his switch to the London Stadium later this week. BBC Sport adds that there is expected to be an option to buy included in the deal ahead of the summer.

It looks to be a smart move for David 🅘Moyes’ men. Phillips has previously shone in the Premier League. And the Hammers are not spendin🅘g a huge amount if the deal does not work out.
Speaking to , Gary Neville believes that it is♔ a really good move for both Phillips and West Ham.
“He needs to play football, that’s for sure. We remember he was a major England player, someone who I think we thought would do well at Manchester City. You normally think that City 📖don’t make mistakes in the transfer market. It’s just not worked out for him there. Obviously, they’ve got fantastic options in midfield,” he said.
“But West Ham losing Declan Rice, I think it’s a good move for West Ham. It’s a good move for Kalvin Phillips. ꦰI hope he can stay fit and get a lot of football in before the Euro’s in the summer.
“He’ll fit in there no problem. He’s a really good player and a go🍎od, solid David Moyes-type to have on the pitch.”
Low-risk move for Irons
Much may depend ಞon how quickly Phillips can get up to speed. He cannot be fully fit having played so little this season. So there will be a question mark over how long it takes him to rediscover that sharpness.
But if everything clicks, he could be an inspired signing. West Hꦜam have a really impressiv🌺e group of midfield players after selling Declan Rice in the summer.
Phillips could definitely bring plenty to the table if he can find the form which prompted Manchester City to make a move 💃back in 2022.
