Gary Neville disagrees with Jurgen Klopp after latest substitute ruling
Gary Neville has been having his say on Jurgen Klopp’s continued anger against clubs voting against the five-sub rule being introduced to the Premier League.
The Liverpool boss has been lobbying hard for the use of five substitutes in the Premier League this season because of a packed schedule forced by last season’s Covid-19 delays.
Premier League clubs again voted against the plan for a third time this season, as clubs with smaller squads feel some of the league’s bigger clubs will get a disproportionate advantage from the ruling.
Klopp has made his feelings clear about the latest vote in the press

“Everyone knows 10 clubs voted against it. It was not about advantages, it was only about player welfare. And they voted against it.
“Pretty much only they voted against them in the whole world.”
But former Liverpool villain Neville, who now works as a pundit on Sky Sports, disagrees with the German.
And he played his best players in moments he didn’t need to! And being honest . He’s my favourite manager in the world in terms of his football style and his personality. He’s amazing . But he has this wrong .

Whilst paying the Liverpool manager a huge compliment in the process, the former Manchester United defender pointed out a flaw in Klopp’s argument.
The Liverpool boss has had to deal with numerous injury problems this season, including to key players such as Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez as well as new signings Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota.
Yet in a recent Champions League dead rubber, Klopp still used some of his more important star players and does not regularly make his maximum number of substitutions per game, which clearly puzzles Neville.
It is clear that Klopp is only trying to look out for his players and that, as Liverpool manager, is his job.
But his relentless pursuit against this ruling is something Neville cannot get behind.
