Gary Lineker unhappy with what’s happened to ‘unbelievable’ Liverpool player recently

Gary Lineker has now confessed that he’s been less than happy with the treatment of one of Arne Slot’s Liverpool stars of late.

Right now, Slot and Liverpool’s recruitment team will be diligently preparing for the new season, finalising their tran🌄sfer plans.

It’s all been pretty quietꦇ at Anfield in that regard, which is perhaps testament to the quality of the squad Jurgen Klopp left behind.

There’s certainly no glaring weaknesses in the Liverpooꦐl squad, even if many feel as if a new centre-back would strengthen options.

That being said, one of the most interesting narratives of the new season will be how Slot intends to get the best out of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

And following Trent’s penalty shoot-out heroics for England on Saturday, pundit Gary Lineker has now been discussing the defenderꦐ’s recent treatment by his🌄 country.

Lineker was sp⭕eaking on ‘’ podcast and initially shared how he ‘welled up’ when Trent scored his penalty.

Gary Lineker delighted for Trent Alexander-Arnold after shouldering England ‘blame’

Lineker discussed how Trent was suddenly thrown into a ‘disjointed’ England midfield by Gareth Southgate, ♔expressing that he had become sꦍomething of a scapegoat.

He shared: “The other time that I actually welled up a little bit was with Trent because I feel for Trent in this ꦛ🔴tournament.

“I think he was✨ a bit hung out to dry a little bit because he has been suddenly put into that central midfield position, but he was put into it because the team was a 💫bit disjointed.

“It wasn’t cohesive, they were all over the place, and everyone was blaming Trent. Then he takes him off, and I just thought, ‘That’s not fair𝓰’.

“I am so ple꧑ased for him that he came on and then to s𝓰core the winning penalty. He is such an unbelievably brilliant footballer.”

Many, not just of a Liverpool persuasion, had hoped that Trent would start as a rig𓄧ht wing-back against Switzerland, with Bukayo Saka on the left.

However, with Luke Shaw’s return and Saka’s brillia🅠nce on the right on Saturday, it unfortunately seems as if Trent will rem🔯ain on the bench initially against the Netherlands.
