Gary Lineker suggests Mikel Arteta may be owed an apology after what he’s done at Arsenal
Arsenal were able to right their wrongs from last season on the weekend with an impressive victory over Aston Villa.
The north London side have made the perfect start to the 2024/25 campaign with back to back 2-0 victories over Wolves and Villa.
Mikel Arteta will be delighted with the start his side have made but will be all too aware that there is still an awful long way to go in the campaign.
Summer signings have been few and far between for Arsenal with only Riccardo Calafiori having officially come through the doors.
However, Arsenal are set to announce the signing of midfielder Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad after the Spain international underwent his medical this weekend.
But it is a transfer decision from last summer which has Gary Lineker thinking Arteta could well be owed an apology.

Gary Lineker suggests Mikel Arteta is owed an apology at Arsenal
A lot of change has happened at Arsenal over recent years with the Gunners now pushing Manchester City consistently at the top of the table.
Recently, it has been a case of Arsenal making small improvements to their side rather than acquiring huge additions in the transfer windows.
And it seems as if one of the controversial decisions from last summer is finally looking to be paying off at Arsenal.

Speaking on the back of the victory over Villa on the weekend, Lineker has admitted Arteta’s decision to replace Aaron Ramsdale with David Raya is looking like a great call.
“And also, I’d like to say about Arteta: he’s clearly not frightened of making big decisions,” Lineker said on .
“I think at this time last year, we were going, you know, why is he bringing in David Raya?”
Mikel Arteta working on marginal gains this summer
Making tweaks to the starting XI is what Arteta has looked to do over the last year and this summer has been no different.
Having finished so close to Manchester City last season, Arsenal have looked to make marginal gains in the transfer market.
By adding a player of Calafiori’s quality and the expected arrival of Merino Arsenal are making improvements which could help turn around the two point difference from last season.
The decisions made by Arteta over the last 12 months are showing improvement and it seems as if he is now earning the trust for people to back his choices in the transfer market to improve Arsenal.
