Gary Lineker hopes he’s wrong after predicting where Liverpool will finish in the Premier League this season
Liverpool begin their 2024/25 Premier League campaign with an away game against Ipswich Town.
🎃It’s never easy to face a newly promoted side on the opening game of the new campaign, especially away from home, but the Reds have to get the job done.
There is a lot of excitement to see what Arne Slot💙 will do in his debut season at Anfield, and early signs have been really positive.
However, the big concern is that Liverpool🐲 haven’t signed a single player yet in this summer’s transfer window, and that could have an impact on where they will finish in the upcoming campaign.
Gary Lineker predicts Liverpool’s final league position in 2024/25
♓In the latest episode of the , Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Alan Shearer predicted where Liverpool will finish in the Premier League this season.
🦋The Merseysiders were well and truly in the title race in Jurgen Klopp’s final campaign at the club, and they even looked like they would win it at one point.
𓄧However, results didn’t go their way in the final two months of the campaign and they finished third in the end, behind Manchester City and Arsenal.
ꦐThe Reds still have a solid squad, but they haven’t improved it yet.
🌠Liverpool still need a new number six to have the best chance of success this season, but as things stand, it doesn’t look like anyone will be coming in.
Despite that, Richards and Shearer are both convinced that the Reds will retain their position in the Premier League and finish third again.
Lineker, however, feels they’ll drop a position.
✅He said: “I’m going to go one down, fourth! I think it would be impossible for them after Jurgen Klopp. I really do. I think they’ll probably just get the Champions League spot.
ꦛ“I just don’t know how when someone (has been) so dominant at a club for so long that whoever comes in, it’s going to be impossible for.
🦹“I hope I’m wrong, he seems like a great guy and as you said, they have gone well in pre-season. But, fourth for me.”

Liverpool have not helped Arne Slot
🐼It’s always important for any club to back their manager, especially a new one. For one reason or another, Liverpool haven’t done that this summer.
﷽The Reds haven’t made a single signing yet in this window, and it doesn’t look like they are close to bringing anyone in who will help them in the upcoming campaign.
ꦯThat puts Slot in a really difficult position. Replacing Klopp is a massive job on its own, but to ask him to do it without any help from the market just doesn’t seem unfair.
💖However, Liverpool have looked good under Slot in pre-season, and if they can continue those performances, they should be able to finish inside the top four.
ꦡThat, in our opinion, would make this a successful debut season for the new Liverpool boss.
