Gary Lineker delivers verdict on Leeds display last night, thought 24-year-old was superb

Leeds United have been praised by Gary Lineker following their impressive display in the Premier League last night.

Marcelo Bielsa’s charges ran out 5-2 winners over Newcastle at Elland Road, the result edging them up to 13th in the table on 17 points.

Leeds, who had lost their last two and only won one of their first six home league games, dominated throughout the contest.

However, the Whites were made to work hard for their ultimately comfortable win, with the scoreline poised at 2-2 until the 77th minute.

Newcastle led at Elland Road, Jeff Hendrick scoring in the 26th minute against the run of play, but Patrick Bamford netted his ninth of the season on 35 minutes.

Rodrigo nodded home Jack Harrison’s fine cross just after the hour, but Leeds then conceded once again via a set piece, Ciaran Clark heading in from a corner.

Newcastle collapsed in the latter stages of the game as Stuart Dallas and Ezgjan Alioski scored on 77 and 85 minutes respectively.

The cherry on top came through Harrison, who rifled a fierce effort home from the edge of the box to wrap up the three points in style.

Here is what Lineker said about Leeds:

Up next for Leeds is Sunday’s Premier League trip to Manchester United.
