Gary Lineker delivers two-word verdict on Kemar Roofe after Rangers stunner

Gary Lineker has posted a two-word verdict on Twitter after Kemar Roofe scored an absolute stunner from inside his own half for Rangers on Thursday night during a 2-0 win over Standard Liege in the Europa League.

Rangers travelled to Belgium to take on an impressive Liege side that are on the up. Though Rangers were expected to get a result, they were certainly under pressure to secure three points against Liege. The weather did not help.

Monsoon-like rain saw the ball sit in puddles instead of traveling along the ground as normal. Rangers remained solid, though, as Steven Gerrard’s men earned a 2-0 win. James Tavernier scored a penalty, after a handball by a Liege defender.

The scoreline remained the same until injury time, only for summer signing Roofe to net his third goal for Rangers since joining from Anderlecht. He picked the ball up inside his own half, going past a handful of players, before letting fly.

As mentioned above, his strike broke a record of the longest distance goal at 54.6 metres. Steven Gerrard claimed in his press conference after the match that it was the best goal he has ever seen live – some statement from the Liverpool legend.

Lineker continued the praise for Roofe, tweeting a two-word verdict of “good heavens” after watching the former Leeds, West Brom and Anderlecht ace lash home an effort from within his own half.
