Garth Crooks previously raved about Tottenham-linked Antonio Rudiger
Tottenham have been quite active in the summer transfer window so far and fresh reports are now linking them with a possible swoop for a player at Premier League rivals Chelsea.
reports that Spurs want to sign Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, as they look to strengthen in the heart of their defence and are currently struggling to agree a price for Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar.
It is understood that Rudiger is considering his future at Stamford Bridge due to the fact he’s made no appearances so far this season, but the report adds a loan to a top-flight rival is unlikely.
Rudiger, who has made 115 appearances for Chelsea, is a physical centre-back that has proven himself in English football and has 31 international caps for Germany.
The 27-year-old has found himself frozen out though by club manager Frank Lampard in the early stages of the new season.
BBC pundit and ex-Spurs forward Crooks named Rudiger in his Premier League Team of the Season for the 2018/19 campaign, and gave a glowing verdict on him.
“His performances have been outstanding during a difficult period for the Blues. Every time I watch this lad play I am bowled over by his enthusiasm and competitive nature. A man for a crisis,”

TBR’s View:
Spurs could do with an extra centre-back option this season and Skriniar is certainly the target they need to try secure.
Rudiger may be proven at Premier League level, but he is prone to the odd individual error and it indicates a lot that he’s currently the one Chelsea centre-back out of the first-team picture.
It looks like Spurs manager Jose Mourinho is still trying to work out his preferred centre-back combination and the team will become a lot more settled once that partnership is nailed-on.
