Garth Crooks makes Andre Gomes and Theo Walcott claim after Everton win
Garth Crooks that anything is possible for Everton if Andre Gomes can stay fit and Theo Walcott can find his best form following their win over West Ham at the weekend.
The Toffees have silenced plenty of their critics after beating the Hammers 2-0 at Goodison Park. Marco Silva’s men had lost their previous four league games and were in the relegation zone.

But Everton produced a superb display to claim the three points. And Crooks suggested that two of the star performers at the weekend will be crucial to the club’s fortunes during the rest of the campaign.
“If ever Everton needed a victory then this was it, if only to shut up those Moaning Minnies who are starting to question Marco’s Silva’s ability to manage the club,” .

“This was an excellent performance by Everton against an in-form West Ham and the catalyst for this performance was Andre Gomes.
“The Portugal international has been badly missed by Everton because of injury but if he can remain fit and Theo Walcott stays focused then anything is possible at Goodison. It is still a great place to play football.”

It certainly looked to be one of Walcott’s best performances for the Toffees. He had made a poor start to the campaign, and the Goodison Park faithful would be forgiven for expecting a lot more.
Meanwhile, it is probably not a surprise that Everton have won the last two league games in which Gomes has started. In fact, they have suffered just one defeat in the five top flight fixtures he has started, and that came on a day where he was well short of his best.
There are still issues that Silva needs to address. But having Gomes back looks to be an enormous boost for the Toffees boss. And perhaps, Walcott’s display may prove to be the catalyst for an improved run of form from the Englishman.
