Garth Crooks claims Wolves player would have been ‘perfect’ for Tottenham

that he believes Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez would have been “perfect” for Tottenham Hotspur, four years ago.

Jimenez, 28, has continued his stunning form for Wolves this season after shining on loan last term. He scored 17 goals in 44 games, and created a further eight strikes. But since his £30million () permanent move, he has gone a step further.

Already clocking up 36 outings, the Mexico international has now netted 19 goals in just 36 games – and laid on another nine assists. His explosive run of goals continued on Saturday, as he scored a brace in a 3-2 win over in-form Southampton.

Tottenham are on the lookout for a new striker with Harry Kane sidelined until April at least, and former Spurs man Crooks believes Jimenez would have been perfect – had he been four years younger. He also reckons he would be worth £60million.

“If he was four years younger he would be perfect for Spurs, especially with Harry Kane’s long-term injury, but he would also be worth twice the price and not the £30m Wolves paid for him. What a snip,”

TBR’s view – Should Tottenham consider a move for Jimenez?

Bought for £30million, Jimenez is in the form of his life and is scoring at a ratio of more than one goal every two appearances – and laying on an assist every four games. His form is impeccable, especially for a side that are not expected to be in the top six.

He is likely to be worth a lot more than that £30million price tag now. However, Crooks reckons he would be worth £60million if he was 24 years of age – but Wolves would be hardly willing to sell Jimenez for anything less than £60million – at 28.

A top, top striker, but it is likely that Spurs would be priced out of a move.
