Garry Monk favourite Ashley Fletcher ready for Leeds United test

Leeds United will take on Middlesbrough in their next Championship clash, hoping to take their current winning streak to five games.

The West Yorkshire side will, however, face an improving Boro side, fresh off the back of an important win against fellow strugglers Barnsley in midweek.

One area where Boro are strong is in attack and one of their strikers is already looking forward to the game.

Ashley Fletcher as suggesting his side are more than ready for the test Leeds United might have to offer.

“This has to give us the confidence to be a turning point.

“We’ll go into the Leeds game full of confidence…

“It was tough, I’m not going to lie. The boys really had to dig deep at times, but this will give us confidence.”

Of course, in another world, Fletcher might have become a Leeds player at one point.

Garry Monk was a big fan of the player. in 2016, following a successful loan spell at Barnsley, he wanted to bring the striker to Leeds.

Instead, Fletcher headed to West Ham. But it was not long until Leeds were linked again. Monk again was reportedly pushing for the deal, a loan move in January 2017.

In the end, Monk did get his man. He snapped up Fletcher whilst he was Middlesbrough manager in a to be in the region of £6.5 million.

Monk is now gone but Fletcher remains and scored the winning goal against Barnsley yesterday evening. He will hope to show Leeds United why Monk was so keen at the weekend.
