‘Gamble worth taking’, ‘Waste of space’ – These Birmingham fans react to potential Berahino arrival
According to , Birmingham City will offer a trial to Saido Berahino. The striker has had his contract with Stoke city cancelled, so the Blues would be able to secure his services on a free transfer.
However, the Potters have opted to terminate the 25-year-old’s contract early for a reason. The 5-cap Burundi international has been a controversial figure for the Potters, who chose to cancel his contract following a drink driving conviction, as reported by the .
The forward has been troubled on the pitch too. Since his big money move to Stoke in 2017, he has managed just 5 goals in 56 appearances for the club in all competitions.

If Berahino doesn’t get his career back on track soon then he risks completely wasting his talent. He desperately needs a fresh start, which a switch to St Andrew’s Stadium represents. However, it would be a risk for the Blues to take on such an unreliable figure. They certainly shouldn’t contemplate offering him a long-term contract.
However, if Berahino could rediscover his best form with Birmingham then the free transfer would go down as quite the coup.
Following the report linking the Blues with a move for the troubled forward, plenty of Birmingham fans took to Twitter to give their views on the matter.
Genuinely think Berahino could do well at Blues. Wouldn’t be second fiddle and a really good opportunity to get his career back on track. Brilliant pedigree and a gamble worth taking!

It’s all about attitude, lots of players have ability not many have great attitude AND ability. It’s a no from me. He’ll end up at Kidderminster

Do you honestly think damaged goods like him with that attitude would suddenly flourish in the current confused and shambolic environment that is BCFC? Under Monk possibly but not as it stands. It’s naive wishful desperate thinking I’m afraid.
