Galatasaray now hoping to beat Tottenham to signing of £30m Premier League player

Tottenham are hoping to sign one of their Premier League rivals’ midfielders but are facing stiff competition from Turkish giants, Galatasaray.

Spurs are looking to kick on with their summer recruitment drive and after already signing Archie Gray, want to add more quality and depth to the squad.

Ange Postecoglou is keen to add a number of new faces to his squad while he also wants to ensure certain players are moved on.

The likes of Emerson Royal are being linked with moves to AC Milan, while it’s been claimed Tottenham are also prepared to offer a big contract to Federico Chiesa.

The club are also being linked with players closer to home, with reports yesterday saying Tottenham could sign Manchester United’s Scott McTominay.

And when it comes to McTominay, it looks like Spurs face interest from abroad.

Galatasaray think they can sign Scott McTominay instead of Tottenham

Plettenberg claims that the Turkish giants feel that the United midfielder would be open to the move to Turkey and there are ‘serious chances’ of a deal being done.

One problem within the deal would be the fee, though. Man United are looking for close to £30m to even consider selling McTominay.

Of course, for Tottenham, a £30m fee would be less of a problem given the riches of the Premier League.

McTominay played a key role for United off the bench last season and is the top man for Scotland.

However, he is still not promised regular first-team football and with the Old Trafford club looking to sign another new midfielder as well, there’s a chance he falls down the pecking order further.

McTominay, then, could well be open to the Tottenham move while Galatasaray present an interesting alternative as well.
