Galatasaray considering move to sign ‘exceptional’ Newcastle player with club ready to sell him

Turkish giants Galatasaray are now interested in signing a Newcastle United player who has already made 94 appearances under Eddie Howe.

Whilst the next six or so weeks will be predominantly focused on who Paul Mitchell will add to Newcastle’s squad, one or two players may still leave.

Newcastle are looking to reduce the average age of their squad in the coming weeks and will likely move a few more players on despite their PSR concerns now being solved.

And whilst the likes of Isaac Hayden, Jamal Lewis or Ryan Fraser wouldn’t be too sorely missed on Tyneside, Kieran Trippier’s departure would be significant.

And to that end, TBR Football understands that Galatasaray are now exploring a potential deal for Trippier.

Newcastle are ready to allow 33-year-old Trippier to leave the club this summer, given he now has just one-year left on his current deal.

The England international was once the flagship player of the new era of success under Howe, but in that regard, Tino Livaremento seems ready to start moving forward.

Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier also has interest from AC Milan and Monaco

Following some commendable performances at Euro 2024, playing out of position as an advanced left-back, Trippier does have a lot of suitors this summer.

The England international was close to joining Bayern Munich in January but Newcastle eventually pulled away from the move.

And now TBR understands that Bayern remain keen on Trippier, whilst there is also interest in Saudi Arabia and from the likes of AC Milan and AS Monaco.

However, Galatasaray’s interest is currently most advanced, and TBR can confirm that the Turkish club are considering a move for Trippier as they look for a new right-back.

Galatasaray had been looking at Rennes’ Guela Doue, brother of Desire Doue who is wanted across Europe this summer, but a deal has not progressed.

Therefore, if Newcastle are able to offload Trippier before the end of August the club would surely have to seek a replacement.

Right now it seems as if Howe and Mitchell are predominantly targeting a new centre-back and a right-winger, perhaps even seeking the addition of another goalkeeper too.

And in terms of Trippier leaving, the situation will likely be treated on an ad hoc basis.

All that being said, Newcastle recently made an enquiry to sign a winger would be very keen to come to the Premier League this summer.
