Gabriel Agbonlahor tells Arsenal to sell Emile Smith Rowe and sign £100m striker instead
Gabriel Agbonlahor has said that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal should do whatever it takes to bring Ivan Toney to the Emirates Stadium.
The former Aston Villa striker has said that Arsenal should even sell Emile Smith Rowe if that helps them get a deal done with Brentford.
So, what has Gabriel Agbonlahor said about Arsenal and Ivan Toney? Let’s take a look.
Arsenal told to sell Emile Smith Rowe to fund Ivan Toney move
Well, talkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor believes that Arsenal have to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in the January transfer window. They simply have to.
The former Aston Villa striker has said that Arsenal should even try to include Emile Smith Rowe or Eddie Nketiah in a potential deal with Brentford.
Agbonlahor has said that Arsenal should try to get £35-£40 million for winger Smith Rowe and use that money to fund a move for Toney.
have reported that Brentford want as much as £100 million for Toney, who is serving a ban at the moment and will not be available to play until January 2024.

reported this month interest in the England international from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
Agbonlahor said on : “If I am Arsenal now, behind the scenes, I would be doing everything I can regarding financial fair play to make it happen.
“What can we do? Can we sell Smith Rowe maybe? Can we sacrifice someone and get £35-£40 million for Smith Rowe.”
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Bent asked: “What about Eddie? Would you part ways with him?”
Agbonlahor responded: “Yeah, 100%. If you could (use) Eddie Nketiah and say to Brentford, ‘Here you go.” Here’s £15-20 million whatever for Ivan Toney or maybe £30 million. 100%.
“He can run in behind. He is strong. Did you see the goal where he dinked the keeper from 30 yards? He can finish, he is good in the air, he is good at holding the ball up.
” Imagine him with the runs from Saka and Martinelli down the wings, Odegaard in the middle. Make that happen, because you know Chelsea are going to try and do it.”
Not a bad idea to use Emile Smith Rowe to fund Ivan Toney deal
In my view, it would not be a bad idea for Arsenal to try to include Emile Smith Rowe in a deal to sign Ivan Toney.
While Smith Rowe is a very good and promising young player, he is not really an important figure in the first team at the moment.
The 23-year-old has had injury problems in recent times, and when fit and available, he is merely a squad player even though he is training well.
I do not see how the England international could regain his place in the team. After all, Martin Odegaard is the main playmaker at Arsenal, who have Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli on the wings.
If Arsenal really want to sign Toney, then trying to include Smith Rowe to sweeten the deal would not be a bad idea.
