Gabriel Agbonlahor says what all Aston Villa fans are thinking, amid coronavirus epidemic
The Premier League campaign has been suspended until April 3 due to the coronavirus outbreak that has now filtered into England’s top tier – and Gabriel Agbonlahor has posted what every Aston Villa fan is thinking.
Aston Villa were due to play host to Chelsea on Saturday evening with Dean Smith’s side seriouslt struggling of late. Sitting in 19th place in the Premier League, Villa last won a league game on January 21 against Watford.
The suspension means Villa will next be in action on April 4, when they play host to Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, there is talk that the season could be completely voided – or suspended further.
Aston Villa posted confirmation on Instagram that Saturday’s game against Chelsea will be called off, with the west London outfit being directly affected after winger Callum Hudson-Odoi confirmed he had contacted the virus – but since overcome it.
Not only has England international Hudson-Odoi suffered from the virus, but so has Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis. Juventus defender Daniele Rugani is also suffering.
Villa legend Agbonlahor reacted to the news that his old side would not be playing on Saturday, or playing until April 4. He believes the season needs to be completely voided and start again in August – blowing away Villa’s impending relegation.
