Gabriel Agbonlahor says £19m English striker would be a great signing for West Ham

Gabriel Agbonlahor has given his verdict on whether or not Dominic Solanke would be a success at West Ham United.

The former Aston Villa striker and talkSPORT pundit seems to be a fan of Solanke.

So, what has Gabriel Agbonlahor said about West Ham United and Dominic Solanke? Let’s take a look.

Dominic Solanke backed for West Ham United

Well, according to Gabriel Agbonlahor, former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke would be a good signing for West Ham United.

The talkSPORT pundit thinks that Bournemouth striker Solanke would make West Ham a better and more potent team in attack.

However, the former Aston Villa striker does not think that Solanke is good enough to play for a top-six club in the Premier League.

Solanke, who is rated highly by Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate, has been linked with moves away from Bournemouth in the January transfer window.

reported in December 2023 that Arsenal could try to sign Solanke in January 2024 if they are unable to do a deal with Brentford for Ivan Toney.

The report noted West Ham’s interest in the striker as well. The Hammers are “also sniffing around and rate Solanke highly”. The Daily Star added that Bournemouth now value the English striker at £50 million, having signed him from Liverpool in 2019 for £19 million.

Agbonlahor said about Solanke on : “I like him. I think he is not top-six level for me, but after that, I would say, like a West Ham, he would do a job at West Ham I feel, Fulham.”

My View: West Ham need to wait until 2024 summer for Dominic Solanke

In my opinion, West Ham United will have to wait until the summer of 2024 to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.

I do not see Bournemouth selling their main goalscorer in the middle of the season. I do not think that West Ham will pay £50 million for the 26-year-old in January either.

The Englishman has made 20 appearances in the Premier League so far this season, Solanke has scored 12 goals and given one assist in those games.
