Gabriel Agbonlahor responds to new Aston Villa signing Mbwana Samatta
Gabriel Agbonlahor has sent an excited Instagram message to new Aston Villa signing Mbwana Samatta after the Midlands club’s third January signing claimed he had watched Villa icon Agbonlahor in the past.
Samatta, 27, joined Villa on Monday for a fee believed to be in the region of £8.5million after scoring 76 goals in 191 games for Genk. He has become the first Tanzanian player to ever play for a Premier League team.
He has already been quoted as claiming that he used to watch Agbonlahor when the Villa striker was in his prime, and the pressure is already on. He will be tasked with scoring the goals to replace Wesley, and keep Villa in the Premier League.
“I know many things about Aston Villa but most of all are some of the players who used to play here before,” . “I used to watch Gabby Agbonlahor when he was here. It’s a massive club for me.”

Samatta has starred once again this season, even captaining Belgian side Genk in the Champions League. The African forward has even scored in the Champions League three times this season, once against Liverpool at Anfield.
Villa have also sold Jonathan Kodjia this month, meaning Samatta is the club’s only fit striker right now. It is likely that Dean Smith will want another forward added to his side in the coming days.
Agbonlahor responded to Samatta’s comments about watching the former England international, and the Villa icon stated that he is excited to watch the newest Villa striker shine in his new side’s fight against relegation.
