Gabby Agbonlahor issues ’emergency’ Everton transfer plea as relegation predicted

It has been a woeful start to the Premier League season for Everton with two heavy defeats in their first two matches.

The Toffees started the season with a 3-0 defeat to Brighton at Goodison Park and things went from bad to worse when they lost 4-0 to Tottenham on Saturday afternoon.

Sean Dyche‘s side now sit bottom of the Premier League and it looks as though Everton could find themselves in another relegation battle.

Everton ended up avoiding the drop by 14 points last season but they were in and amongst the relegation contenders after facing two separate points deductions.

Four new signings have arrived at Goodison Park but the £50million sale of Amadou Onana has significantly weakened their midfield.

Everton urged to make ’emergency’ signings

Jake O’Brien, Iliman Ndiaye, Tim Iroegbunam and Jesper Lindstrom have been added to Dyche’s squad, but Gabriel Agbonlahor believes Everton need more reinforcements before the transfer window slams shut on Friday evening.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor said “When you look at Everton’s squad of players, it’s not great at all. You look at going forward and you have Neal Maupay on the bench who hasn’t been at his greatest recently.

“[Dominic] Calvert-Lewin is not getting the service, defensively without [Jarrad] Branthwaite playing they look a bit shaky.

“It’s scary times for Everton, they need some emergency signings in the next few days.

“When you flirt with relegation season after season it catches you and as you say, the three that have come up might not be the whipping boys.”

Everton cannot afford new signings

Agbonlahor points out that Everton are in desperate need of new signings, but the club’s finances simply make it impossible.

Dyche that there is “no money” available for transfers with Everton still on the lookout for new signings.

Everton have made contact with Gonzalo Montiel but it is yet to be seen if they can get a deal over the line before the window closes.
