‘Furious’: BT pundit spotted Newcastle player was fuming with Dele Alli in the very last minute tonight

Newcastle United climbed out of the Premier League relegation zone thanks to a 3-1 win over Everton at St James’ Park.

The Magpies followed up their 1-0 victory at Leeds last time out with a solid triumph over Frank Lampard’s Toffees.

Everton took the lead in the 36th minute due to a Jamaal Lascelles own goal.

However, Newcastle levelled moments after the restart through another own goal.

Lascelles’ header hit the crossbar, hit Mason Holgate and went in.

Ryan Fraser made it 2-1 from close range in the 56th minute of the match.

And then, a magnificent free kick from Kieran Trippier sealed the win ten minutes from time.

There were several controversial moments throughout the game.

In the first half, Jonjo Shelvey got a yellow for a particularly strong tackle on Anthony Gordon.

And right at the end, Dele Alli lunged on Joelinton. This prompted a strong reaction from the Newcastle man.

Chris Sutton, speaking on , said in response to the commentator noting Joelinton was furious: “Oh he really is.

“That’s a really poor challenge from Dele Alli. He’s got every right to be upset.”

It remains to see what happens regarding the late incident and whether there could be any retrospective action.

Nonetheless, it was a great day at the office for Newcastle, for whom survival looks ever more likely.
