‘Full agreement in place’: Fabrizio Romano claims Crystal Palace have all-but secured ‘outstanding’ signing

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Crystal Palace have all-but secured the signing of Sam Johnstone.

Eagles manager Patrick Vieira looks set to make his first signing of the summer transfer window.

Indeed, multiple outlets have claimed that Johnstone is on the brink of signing for Palace on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old’s West Bromwich Albion contract expires at the end of June.

Numerous clubs had been linked with Johnstone, including Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

But according to , neither club was able to give the goalkeeper assurances of playing time.

And now, it looks as though Palace have won the race for the player.

Here is what Romano posted on Twitter about Johnstone:

Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest were reportedly eyeing Johnstone too.

Palace look to have struck gold in landing the 6ft 4in ace, who’s set to provide competition for Vicente Guaita.

Johnstone is talented, experienced, knows the Premier League well, and there’s no transfer fee involved.

In January last year, England legend Glenn Hoddle waxed lyrical about Johnstone in the .

“I really like Sam Johnstone, the goalkeeper at West Brom,” he wrote.

“I think he is ready for one of the top six clubs to go and get him.

“I’ve seen him four times this year and he has been outstanding.”
