‘Full agreement completed’: Fabrizio Romano has transfer news for Tottenham fans

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Joe Rodon’s imminent switch from Tottenham Hotspur to Rennes.

Yesterday, reports emerged claiming the Spurs defender was closing in on a loan move to the Ligue 1 club.

Now, it looks as though Tottenham have all-but sealed a deal for Rodon to make the move to Rennes.

“Full agreement completed, Joe Rodon will join Rennes,” Romano wrote on .

“Deal in place with Tottenham on loan with option to buy clause worth €20m (£17m), as revealed yesterday – just waiting to sign paperworks.

“All parties working on final details. Rodon follows Theate as new Rennes player.”

Rodon joined Tottenham from Swansea in October 2020, but he has struggled for game time at N17.

To date, the £11million signing has made just 24 first-team appearances for Spurs.

Rodon has, however, remained in starting contention for the Wales national team.

The 24-year-old has 28 Dragons caps and helped his nation reach the World Cup.

Rodon played the full 90 minutes as Wales beat Ukraine 1-0 in their playoff final earlier this summer.

Barring injury or illness, the 6ft 4in ace is a shoo-in to make the Wales squad for Qatar 2022.

Antonio Conte provided an update on Rodon’s future at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Roma friendly in Haifa.

“Joe Rodon is another good player and don’t forget that in November there is the World Cup and many players want to play and play regularly,” quotes him as saying.

“Also to prepare themselves for this important competition. I think that when the thoughts from the club and the players are the same we try to find the best solution for both.”
