Fulham could have had Lyon’s Maxwel Cornet for bargain £18 million
Maxwel Cornet is a name that Manchester City fans have come to fear given that in two Champions League games, the 22-year-old has already notched three goals against Pep Guardiola’s side.
claimed that Fulham were seeking to sign the right-winger from Lyon in the summer and made an approach believed to be worth £18 million, but the talks never amounted to a deal.
Instead, Cornet has struggled for regular game time in Ligue Un but has played all 180 minutes against Manchester City as Lyon have taken four points from a possible six in the two fixtures in the Champions League group stage.

Fulham have struggled to date in the Premier League and the thought of Cornet’s pace and guile bursting down the flank could have made a crucial difference, certainly worth more than £18 million.
Having converted three chances and also hit the post against the runaway league champions, Cornet would appear to have what it takes to compete in English football.
The Ivory Coast international would surely cost more money now than had he moved to London in the summer and Fulham will be left ruing the decision not to pursue the deal.
