‘From the corner of my eye’: Journalist says he saw £13m Tottenham player on crutches after Bournemouth game

Tottenham beat Bournemouth on Sunday, but the final portion of the game was overshadowed by what appeared to be a serious injury for Alejo Veliz.

The Argentine seemed to be in a lot of distress as he went down towards the end of the match, and, sadly, it didn’t look good.

At the age of just 20, Veliz’s is at an important stage in his development, but that has now been hampered by this injury.

Unfortunately, it does sound as though this issue is serious. Speaking on the , Rob Guest noted that he saw Veliz after the game while he was interviewing Heung-Min Son and he says that the striker was on crutches as he was leaving the stadium.

Veliz was on crutches

Guest shared what he noticed about the man.

“You saw him after the game and didn’t he have a brace on his knee or he was on crutches?” Gold asked.

“No, I didn’t see a knee brace, I only saw him from the corner of my eye because we were interviewing Son at the time. I caught a glimpse and I saw him on crutches leaving, I didn’t see a brace,” Guest said.

Shame

The timing on this injury is about as bad as it ever could be.

Veliz was just finding his feet at Tottenham. He scored his first Premier League goal against Brighton last week and with Heung-Min Son headed to the Asian Cup now, a chance in the team could’ve beckoned.

Sadly, that chance may not come now as the youngster is set for a spell on the sidelines, and we can only hope that he can come back and pick up where he left off.

Veliz is only a youngster, so time is on his side, but it’s never nice to see a player pick up an injury like this.
