From ‘invisible and sloppy’ to ‘important’, £75k-a-week Liverpool star’s return to form is key for Klopp – TBR View

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum had been struggling for form for a while, and his disappointing display just before the international break would surely have been a cause for concern for Jurgen Klopp.

However, the Reds ace has enjoyed a superb international break for the Netherlands, and now he looks very much back to his best.

In October, Wijnaldum’s performances for his nation came under scrutiny, his efforts against Italy leading Football Oranje to give him and deem him “invisible and sloppy with the ball”.

The 30-year-old was better in the first game of the November international break, the friendly draw with Spain, as the outlet gave him for his efforts before being subbed off at the break.

Against Bosnia and Herzegovina, meanwhile, Wijnaldum excelled, getting from Football Oranje and an assessment which read: “Pushed forward in a more attacking position and got two goals in the opening fifteen minutes.

“Always reliable in Oranje and he got Netherlands on their way to victory tonight… a good performance from the Liverpool man.”

And against Poland, the £ ace was key once again as he won the penalty for the Dutch equaliser before scoring the winner, earning himself .

With the international break now over, attention switches back to club football and, given Liverpool aren’t exactly in the best place right now, Wijnaldum’s upturn in form is great news for Klopp.
