However, speaking on the , Kieran Trippier has given a different answer.
The Newcastle star was playing a game of word association, and he was asked to name the first player that came to mind when talking about the GOAT (Greatest of All Time).
Trippier neglected the likes of Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, instead opting to pick his former Tottenham teammate Mousa Dembele as the best player he’s ever seen.

“I’m going to put down Dembele. Of course you could say Messi or Ronaldo, but this guy, when I played with him at Tottenham was the GOAT. Honestly, in training, in games, what he could do with a football was frightening. Everytime people say who’s the best player you’ve played with, he’s one of them for sure,’ Trippier said.
High praise
This is massive praise from a player like Trippier who has seen the best of the best in recent years.
Trippier has played with some of world football’s biggest stars from Luis Suarez to Harry Kane, but the fact that Dembele still stands out as one of the best he’s seen is a huge credit to his abilities.
The Belgian was certainly a mesmeric player when he was at Tottenham, and while he didn’t get the credit he deserved at the time, anyone who played with him during that period acknowledges just how fantastic a player he was.
