Freiburg CEO explains why Robin Koch was sold to Leeds United
Leeds United have continued their recent transfer business by bringing in Robin Koch from German side SC Freiburg.
The Whites were looking for a replacement for former loanee Ben White, who has returned to parent club Brighton with Leeds’ attempts to bring him in permanently falling on deaf ears.
the deal is worth an initial £13 million and Leeds will be hoping the German international can be a hit in the Premier League.
As for his former club, they were clearly reluctant to sell him on.

, Freiburg sporting CEO Jochen Saier made it clear that Koch was moved on as he had just one year left on his deal at the club and the Bundesliga side were trying to avoid losing him for nothing in 12 months time.
“Robin has made a great development with us in the past three years. He was never impressed by external factors and it was a pleasure to work with him on and off the field,” Saier stated. “His contract would have expired in ten months, so we have now found a good solution together by moving to the Premier League. We wish Robin all the best at Leeds United.”
Leeds United have undoubtedly pulled off some excellent business by bringing the versatile 24-year-old to Elland Road this summer.
The price-tag is undoubtedly below the market value for a player of his quality and hearing how highly thought of he remains at Freiburg can only give Leeds fans hope of him having a similar impact in West Yorkshire.
