Frederic Guilbert drops Instagram hint over Villa return in response to Jack Grealish
Frederic Guilbert has dropped a big hint on Instagram that he wants to return to Aston Villa in the summer, in response to Villa captain Jack Grealish on Instagram – as he continues to impress on loan at French side Strasbourg.
Guilbert, 26, joined Strasbourg on loan in the January transfer window having only managed two appearances for Dean Smith’s men during the first half of the campaign. Both of those came in the Carabao Cup – with Matty Cash first choice.
The £40,000-a-week () defender left to return to his home country in the winter window, joining Strasbourg on loan until the end of the season. He has since clocked up five appearances, proving somewhat impressive in the final third.
In those five games, Guilbert has clocked up three goal involvements – laying on two assists and even scoring on Wednesday night, as Strasbourg completed a surprise 1-0 win over Monaco. He posted on Instagram after his goal for Strasbourg.
His post is translated as: “Believe in it until the end. Happy to have scored my first goal in the Strasbourg shirt.”
Guilbert has clocked up just 31 appearances in his time at Aston Villa – having a hand in four goals, scoring two and creating two. He has a contract at Villa until the summer of 2023 but with Cash excelling, his long-term future was in doubt.
However, Guilbert stated that he is hoping to return to Villa and play alongside Grealish – after Grealish had applauded the right-back on his Instagram post. Whether he will be given the chance to do so, remains to be seen.
