Freddie Woodman has ‘fallen in love’ with Swansea amid Newcastle United loan spell

Newcastle United owned goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has been speaking about his time at loan club Swansea City and it seems the England youth international is loving life in South Wales.

Woodman made it clear that he was ‘in love’ with the area, enjoying the beaches and the people.

“So it’s a great place to live and work because there’s so much to do here. I’ve fallen in love with south west Wales.

“I’m just looking forward to helping the team as much as possible when the season restarts as we have the quality to push into the play-offs during the remaining nine games.”

Of course, some Newcastle United fans will have to point Woodman in the direction of the excellent beaches of England’s North-East once isolation is over, and if he does return to the club.

The 23-year-old is one of England’s top young goalkeepers, helping his country to the Under-20 World Cup win of 2017.

But he has had to wait for a first-team opportunity at St James’ Park and this season joined his former England youth boss Steve Cooper at Swansea.

The Newcastle stopper has been in fine form in South Wales, helping the Swans mount a bid for promotion back to the Premier League.

Swansea are keen on a permanent deal and with Martin Dubravka blocking his Newcastle pathway it will have to be a thought in the back of his mind.

Woodman’s current contract is set to expire next summer and whilst Newcastle are set to lose Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot in the summer, an impending takeover will likely see more new recruits arriving.

Perhaps the time is coming for Woodman to find his way out of Newcastle United on a permanent basis.
