Frankfurt sporting director expected West Ham’s Sebastien Haller to join Bayern
West Ham United completed the signing of Sebastien Haller for a reported fee of £45 million this summer () – much to the surprise of Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting director Fredi Bobic.
The Hammers broke their transfer record to land the French striker, who had enjoyed a superb 2018/19 season with the Bundesliga outfit.
Haller scored 20 goals for Eintracht and forged a frightening partnership with Luka Jovic, who went on to join Real Madrid.

Haller has made a decent start to life at the London Stadium, helping himself to three goals so far.
Irons supporters are delighted to have a player of his calibre in the side, and Bobic felt he was even good enough to spark the interest of European heavyweights Bayern Munich.
: “I always thought they would call us about Sebastien Haller as a back-up for Lewandowski at some point. But there was never any contact.”
TBR’s view
Luckily West Ham appeared to get a relatively free run at Haller and they appear to be much better off for having him in their team.

The season has only just started but Haller looks to be a real quality addition for the Londoners, who needed to replace Marko Arnautovic after he left for China.
The 25-year-old is quite the handful but is also technically very strong having shown a willingness to drop deep and bring others into play.
Bobic’s comments surely only emphasise how lucky West Ham are to have him.
