Frank McAvennie has responded to an angry Celtic fan on Twitter after the Hoops legend claimed James Forrest is too small to play in the Premier League,
Forrest, 27, has been in sensational form for Celtic once again this year, and remains only one of three players to have stayed at Celtic throughout their eight-in-a-row run of league titles.
The winger has amassed an enormous 17 goals and laid on 20 assists during his 55 league and cup appearances. He is absolutely crucial to Celtic, but Liverpool were keen on an £8million move in January.
McAvennie considered whether Forrest could be tempted with a move to the Premier League, : “I don’t know if he’s big enough to go down to England. That still matters down there. James is quite happy at Celtic.”
Even though he suggested that Forrest will remain at Celtic, a Hoops supporter questioned McAvennie and the ex-Bhoys striker reacted – stating “the big guns only want big players”.
Yeah and fighting relegation or bottom half of table, the big guns want big players so why would he leave Celtic , only my opinion 🍀

TBR’s view
Forrest is small, and perhaps a little light weight for the Premier League – but McAvennie is wrong. Forrest’s blistering pace and hard-working style of play would make him a top signing for any mid-table Premier League side.
Though he may not be good enough for the likes of Liverpool, a team such as Newcastle, Burnley, Crystal Palace etc could do with a player that is on fire for the Scottish Champions.
He has shown he can cut in Europe, too. It is not a matter of whether Forrest is small, but whether he could cope with the increase in quality of the Premier League – and his form this season suggests he could.
