Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson says teams are targeting Serge Aurier
Former Tottenham goalkeeper turned Sky Sports Paul Robinson believes his old club are being targeted at right back and believes Jose Mourinho has an upgrade lined up.
Speaking on Robinson still can’t understand the sale of Kieran Trippier and believes loaning Kyle Walker-Peters out means Mourinho has his eye on an upgrade.
He : “There is a weakness at right-back. Aurier has been the problem for a lot of the goals that they have been conceding. Teams have targeted him. You saw what Bayern Munich did in the Champions League.
“Trippier to Atletico Madrid transfer was a strange one. They had Walker-Peters there. Aurier hasn’t been playing well then Walker-Peters goes out on loan to Southampton. Then you are thinking Jose has got somebody lined up to come in. They need a left-back and a right-back.”

It is hard to think of a defender who suits Jose Mourinho less on paper than Serge Aurier. Mourinho has reached an awkward compromise by trying to give the Ivorian attacking freedom and that has worked in a few games.
Perhaps Ben Davies coming back on the other side, with the Welshman being comfortable tucking in at centre half, having done it for Wales, might help.
But there’s only so long a right back can be protected for and Aurier has been exposed during Mourinho’s reign – just as he was under Mauricio Pochettino – and Spurs need a replacement.
Robinson feels Spurs have someone lined up and perhaps Walker-Peters can come back in and be their understudy having been bolstered by the prospect of gametime at Southampton.
