Former PGMOL boss says referee Michael Oliver made a major mistake during Everton vs Liverpool

Liverpool dropped points against Everton in the last-ever Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park.

The Reds have been the best team in the Premier League this season. Despite their recent record at Goodison, they were viewed as the f🔯avourites to win the gꦐame.

Arne Slot’s side even went 2-1 up after conceding early to Beto. It seemed like they had three points in the bag at that point, but Jaജmes Tarkowski’s brilliant volley in the final moments levelled the game.

Neither side were overly happy with referౠee Michael Oliver’s performance on Wednesday night. Now, one of his errors has been highlighted.

Michael Oliver made a mistake during Everton’s draw vs Liverpool

Oliver has ✱come under a lot of criticism thisཧ season.

The 39-year-old is widely regardﷺed as the best referee in the country, but he has made a few big errors over the last few months.

There was a lot of controversy in the ไMerseyside Derby on Wednesday night, and Oliver was the man in the middle again.

One of the controversial decisions came in the first half, when a foul was awarded to Everton after Iliman Ndiaye went down near the halfway line.

Beto scored from the resultant free-kick, and Liverpool fans were upset at that point because they felt it wasn’t a foul on Nd🌌iaye.

Keith Hackett, who was previously the head of the PGMOL, had h🐻is say on the decision on X, 🅠and he feels Oliver made a mistake.

He tweeted: “This was an incorrect award of a free-kick that then went into to result in Everton scoring their openiꦐng goal.🎃”

In another twee❀t, Hackett said: “The award of a free-kick that went into enable Everton to score 🌌their first goal was incorrect (Fact).”

Virgil van Dijk perfectly summed up Michael Oliver’s performance

Oliver has been haviꦏng way too♍ many poor games this season.

The 39-year-old has made the headlines on multiple occasions a👍lready, and some of his decisions in the Merseyside Derby were realജly bad.

After the draw, Van Dijk claimed that Oliver had no control over the ga🅷m🅷e, and the Liverp꧙oo♛l captain was absolutely spot on.

The experi🐭enced referee looks like he needs a break. Oliver has been fantastic for many ye⛄ars, but the amount of errors he is making is not acceptable.

But, unfortunately for Liverpool, Everton or any other club who have been on the end of one of his poor decisions, there’s nothi🐓ng they can do about it.
