Former Manchester United boss praises Liverpool’s Mr. Reliable
Liverpool star James Milner has an unlikely admirer – former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.
in which he praises the Reds midfielder, but also surprisingly criticises Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

van Gaal appears to rate Milner’s reliability and ability to play in multiple different positions.
After questioning Messi’s leadership credentials, he added: “In the final of the Champions League, Milner played as a defender and as a midfielder. It’s great that he can offer that at 33.”
Milner has been a trusted player for Jurgen Klopp since arriving in 2015 on a free transfer.
TBR’s view
van Gaal’s take on Messi will be controversial, but it’s likely his view about Milner will be shared by Liverpool fans and neutrals alike.
£140,000-a-week star Milner () may not the most glamorous footballer but he cannot be questioned in terms of carrying out a job for the team.

Despite his advancing years he is still supremely fit, and intelligent enough to fill in wherever the manager needs him.
He is invaluable to the Reds and will no doubt be a big player for the team throughout 2019/20.
