Former Leeds star Tony Dorigo pokes fun at Mario Balotelli-Massimo Cellino situation
When Leeds United’s former chairman Massimo Cellino agreed to bring Mario Balotelli back to Serie A last summer fans at Elland Road immediately saw trouble on the horizon.
Cellino was something of a maverick during his time in charge at Leeds, and that’s being polite.
The Italian presided over years of managerial upheaval, fan outrage, and questionable recruitment during his time at Elland Road, the stadium he failed to buy back despite making that promise.
Meanwhile, Balotelli’s reputation as a combustible element is hardly a secret.

But perhaps it could all work out? Maybe, together, the pair might have cancelled each other out and Balotelli could lead Brescia to Serie A survival.
Nope. That does not appear to be the case.
Instead, Balotelli has been slammed by Cellino this week and, , Cellino has even admitted bringing him to the club was ‘a mistake’.
If it is a mistake big enough for the ever-proud Cellino to admit he was wrong, then it is fairly monumental.
Indeed, it has not surprised Leeds fans. In fact, one former Leeds player has even tweeted on the matter. Tony Dorigo, who played over 200 games for Leeds in his career, took to Twitter yesterday expressing his thoughts on the matter. The Australian-born former left-back was clearly not shocked.
I read Massimo Cellino and Mario Balotelli bromance at Brescia has come to an end – things could now get messy.
Wow, I never saw that coming ?— Tony Dorigo (@tonydorigo)
As for Balotelli, it seems his time at Brescia is at an end with Cellino hoping to move him on in the months ahead.
Leeds fans will certainly not be surprised to see this match made in hell delivered such a tempestuous result.
