Former Leeds owner Massimo Cellino wants season cancelled in Italy
Few clubs in England will want the current campaign to be completed more than Leeds United, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side in a fantastic position to secure promotion to the Premier League.
The Whites are top of the Championship, seven points clear of third place Fulham. They have nine games to go, and it would be a devastating blow, in football terms, if the campaign was written off and declared void.

Leeds find themselves in a position that they could have only dreamed of before Bielsa’s arrival. The fans have had to sit through years of disappointment in the Championship’s mid-table.
Several of those years took place under the guidance of Massimo Cellino.
The Italian is now back in his home country and is the owner of Brescia. what he believes should happen with the rest of the campaign.

“Life comes first. We cannot play again this season. Some don’t realise yet what is happening and those people are worse than the virus. I don’t believe in miracles, I stopped that a long time ago, so let’s press the reset button,” .
“We cannot think about when we’ll resume, but if we’ll survive at all. Be realistic, people. This is the plague.”
Cellino’s comments are particularly interesting because of what cancelling the season would mean for his old club.
It must be noted that it is impossible to criticise anyone, particularly in Italy, who suggests that football cannot think about restarting anytime soon. There are much bigger priorities right now.
Brescia would seemingly be much better off from having the season cancelled. They sit bottom of Serie A and are nine points away from Genoa in 17th place. Cellino did note that his club deserve to be bottom of the table.
Leeds meanwhile, will surely be amongst the clubs doing all they can to ensure the season is completed. Missing out on playing in the Premier League would be a huge blow for the Whites.
Questions would be asked about what the future holds for Bielsa, as well as some of the Whites’ most important players.
Of course, each country will probably come to their own decisions regarding how the season will finish.
