Former Arsenal scout wanted to sign Belgian wonderkid Jeremy Doku
Former Arsenal scout Joel Crahay has told the Belgian news outlet that he tried to sign Jeremy Doku during his time at the Emirates Stadium.
The wonderkid is currently playing for Rennes in Ligue 1 after joining from Anderlecht during the summer transfer window.
He is yet to score for his new club in 11 outings but the 18-year-old is widely regarded as one of Europe’s top talents.
The youngster already has five caps for Belgium to his name and he very nearly ended up at Arsenal.

Doku has scored six goals and registered seven assists in 48 senior appearances, with all of his goal contributions coming in Belgium.
Crahay is a big fan of the player and tried to take him to Arsenal during his time scouting for the club.
“It was a chapter of my carer that taught me a whole lot and that I still use to this day. Everything was done in the smallest detail. We’re talking about the best in the world.
“We were a small delegation from Arsenal, and we got in touch with his parents. We pushed to bring Doku to the club, but they trusted the project at Anderlecht. Credit to them.”
TBR View – Doku could have thrived at Arsenal
Rennes paid £23 million for Doku and that could represent a drop in the ocean in the future.
Arsenal have struggled for a creative spark this season and perhaps the Belgian could have helped in that sense.

He is taking some time to settle this season at Rennes but he’s still showcasing the attributes that could take him to the top.
Arsenal could in theory still pounce in the future – although any club who takes him from Rennes will be paying far more than £23 million.
