‘Forgot he was on the pitch’… Pundit says £72m Man Utd player was almost invisible at the weekend

Rasmus Hojlund scored his second Premier League goal of the season for Manchester United at the weekend.

The Danish striker took his goal brilliantly against Spurs, slamming one into the top corner early in the game to put the Red Devils 1-0 up.

The goal was a great moment, but, beyond that, he really didn’t do much in the game.

Indeed, Hojlund didn’t make much else happen against Spurs, and speaking on Leroy Rosenior has been critical of Hojlund’s showing in this game, stating that he forgot he was even on the pitch at times.

Hojlund was almost invisible

Rosenior shared his verdict on the Manchester United man.

“I think they’re nowhere near where they should be in terms of their potential. Hojlund gets his goal, but then he didn’t get a kick, I forgot he was on the pitch, Rashford got into positions, but then he looked like the old Rashford, didn’t get his head up and was selfish at times,” Rosenior said.

Did his job

Hojlund didn’t have the greatest game of all-time against Tottenham, but it’s hard to overly-critcise the Scandanavian off the back of this showing.

Indeed, Hojlund scored a great goal to put his team 1-0 up, and you can’t really ask for that much more from a striker.

Goals are the name of the game as a centre-forward, and Hojlund managed to get himself on the scoresheet this weekend, he did his job.

Could he have done more? Of course he could, but it’s hard to really point the finger at a striker after a game where he found the back of the net off the back of a half chance.

Hojlund probably does need to do more off the ball, but if he can keep scoring as he did against Spurs, there won’t be too many complaints.
