Foreign media outlet hail £12m player Chelsea offloaded in January as Enzo Maresca struggles continue
Chelsea allowed four talented players to leave Stamford Bridge on loan during the winter transfer window.
Enzo Maresca still has a seriously bloated squad on his hands in west London, although the Italian managed to rid himself of a few selection headaches after loaning Joao Felix and Axel Disasi to AC Milan and Aston Villa respectively.
Carney Chukwuemeka and Renato Veiga were also allowed to join Borussia Dortmund and Juventus on loan as Chelsea trimmed the squad – with the latter now earning praise from one of Italy’s leading newspapers in Tuttosport.
Renato Veiga shining at Juventus
The Portugal international was not really given a chance by Maresca following his move from FC Basel back in July.
Veiga was handed just one Premier League start before joining Juventus in January, despite impressing in the UEFA Conference League with two goals in six appearances.
The versatile defender – who can play centrally or on the left – was regularly overlooked despite Disasi struggling to impress, with Maresca even opting to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Crystal Palace instead of handing Veiga a chance.
Now, the 21-year-old is making a name for himself in Turin.
Chelsea loanee Renato Veiga is being described as Juventus’s “new wall” while playing at centre-back. Head coach Thiago Motta said: "With him, we play from the back and don't need to drop the midfielders back"

Tuttosport describe Veiga as a “wall” for Juventus in a feature on the Portuguese star, having helped the Italian giants win all three of the Serie A games he has started since his move.
Juventus also beat PSV Eindhoven 2-1 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 play-off clash.
Chelsea made sure Renato Veiga return was possible – but Joao Felix could leave
Crucially, Chelsea did not allow Juventus to have an option or obligation to buy Veiga this summer, so he can still return to Stamford Bridge and cement a place in the starting XI next season – if he is happy to do so, of course.

‘Renato Veiga has been nothing short of a revelation since his arrival. The club must make efforts to secure him as a permanent member of their squad.
‘The defender is composed under pressure, comfortable on the ball, and solid defensively.'
However, Felix is one Chelsea loanee who may not want to come back.

Felix has already said he would like to stay at AC Milan beyond the expiry of his loan spell this summer, having impressed in his first few appearances for the Italian giants.
The Portugal international said: “I’ve joined AC Milan on loan but if there’s a chance to stay beyond this season… I’d be happy.
“This is a top European club, I’m already in love with everything here. Kaka was my idol. Inter were also keen but for me (it) was impossible… as I wanted Milan.”
His comments came after TBR Football revealed that Felix and AC Milan want to make the loan move a permanent deal this summer.
Therefore, Maresca may well have alienated Felix, after handing the attacker just three Premier League starts before his move to Milan.
