Florian Jozefzoon will surely regret Leeds United decision with Derby exit reportedly looming

It appears that Derby County could be ready to shift Florian Jozefzoon this month. The Dutchman has struggled for playing time in recent months and has been linked with a Pride Park exit.

on Hull City’s interest and reported at the end of December that the midfielder could be on his way out in 2020.

Derby, of course, fought hard to sign the 28-year-old in 2018, beating Leeds United to his signature. Leeds matched the £2.75 million bid for the player but he decided a move to Derby was in his best interests.

So should Leeds United rekindle their interest?

The answer is a no, and it is clear they would not likely be interested.

Jozefzoon has struggled to cement a place at Derby this season, who are no longer looking like promotion rivals to the West Yorkshire side.

Then there is the fact Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani was fuming with the player when a deal did not go through. that he was ‘happy’ to have missed out on Jozefzoon after the way in which he performed a transfer U-turn.

“We received the contract from the club (Brentford) and we had written approval from the agent. Then, on the way to the medical check here, they change ideas and go to another club. Honestly, I’m happy he didn’t come here. Good luck to him but we don’t want people like this.”

It is now 18 months since Jozefzoon decided that Derby was the better choice over Leeds. In hindsight, he must surely feel that was the wrong decision.
