‘Flipping Martinelli’: Pundit thinks Arsenal star is the reason why ‘phenomenal’ England player is injured

Mark Lawrenson believes Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli is the reason why Liverpool and England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is currently injured.
Jurgen Klopp that his star right-back had picked up a hamstring injury after the game against the Gunners. Alexander-Arnold is expected to be out for a few weeks as a result and he will miss England’s games against Switzerland and Ivory Coast as well.
That really is a shame as the 23-year-old has been in incredible form this season. He has scored twice and has assisted a staggering 17 goals in all competitions so far, which is absolutely incredible for a defender.
Sadly, he’ll have to sit and watch from the sidelines for a few weeks.

Lawrenson: Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli is the reason why Trent Alexander-Arnold is injured
The last game Alexander-Arnold played before his injury was against Arsenal at the Emirates. He was put to the test by Martinelli, who caused havoc from the first minute till the last.
Alexander-Arnold, labelled as ‘‘ by Paul Merson, just couldn’t handle him at times and Lawrenson believes that the Brazilian ‘twisting and turning’ the Englishman must be the reason why the Liverpool man suffered an injury.
In an interview on , Lawrenson was asked if Klopp was saying Alexander-Arnold is injured just so that he won’t have to go with England. He replied: “No! He’s injured, isn’t he?
“He probably got injured because flipping Martinelli was twisting and turning him all sorts of different ways in the Arsenal game.”

TBR View:
Martinelli really did cause Alexander-Arnold a lot of problems last week.
The young Brazilian has been in fine form for the Gunners this season. He has been so good that he’s been called up to the Brazil squad for their games against Chile and Bolivia in the coming days.
Martinelli definitely wouldn’t have wanted to hurt Alexander-Arnold, but it really won’t be a surprise to find out that his brilliant skills are the reason why the Liverpool man’s hamstring was put under extreme pressure.
The 20-year-old is the future of Arsenal and if he continues to improve at the same rate, he will surely cause problems to all other right-backs in the country.
