Five tackles, three clearances: 25-year-old had his best game for Leeds

Junior Firpo was outstanding as Leeds United picked up a huge win in their fight to keep themselves in the Premier League at Elland Road on Sunday.

Firpo has not had the easiest time since moving to Leeds. There have certainly been glimpses of his quality. However, there have also been a number of mistakes from the former Barcelona man.

He was suspended for the clash with Arsenal before Christmas after collecting five yellow cards. Four of those came in his previous five appearances. And he was arguably fortunate to avoid a red card away at Manchester City after a clumsy foul while already on a caution.

However, there is absolutely no question that Junior has emphatically silenced his critics and doubters following his performance against Burnley on Sunday.

Leeds won 3-1 to move eight points clear of the bottom three, and Firpo arguably produced his best performance yet for the Whites in the victory.

Five tackles, three clearances: Junior Firpo colossal in Leeds win

The 25-year-old seemed to have greater license to get forward with Leeds using a back three. And he came close to scoring on a couple of occasions, particularly in the first-half.

No Burnley player completed more passes than Junior, . Meanwhile, he made three clearances and won five tackles.

No player on either side could better his tally for challenges won. Only Jack Harrison completed more dribbles than the two Junior produced.

Obviously, some may want more evidence before they change their opinion of Junior entirely.

But there is no doubt that Firpo will be a huge player for Leeds if his display on Sunday is a sign of what is to come from him during the remaining months of the Premier League campaign.
