Five key passes, four tackles: 2015 Leeds signing’s stunning display at Tottenham going under the radar

Several Leeds United players produced arguably their best performance of the season in Sunday’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Daniel James has his first goal for the club, and was lauded by supporters of his former side. Jack Harrison has his first assist of the season in another bright display.

And Kalvin Phillips was outstanding in a role where he was tasked with keeping Harry Kane quiet. That decision truly was a masterstroke from Marcelo Bielsa – even if Phillips did not know the reason behind it.

Meanwhile, Adam Forshaw and Joe Gelhardt were amongst those who can also hold their head up high after their displays.

But there is one performance that does not appear to be receiving a lot of credit that – based on some of the statistics – certainly should be.

Stuart Dallas came incredibly close to giving Leeds the lead with a stunning strike from distance.

The Northern Irishman has looked a lot more like his old self in the last few weeks after a tough time at the start of the campaign.

And he took another step forward at the weekend.

Stuart Dallas superb despite Leeds defeat

No Leeds player won more tackles than the 30-year-old, . He won four, with only Emerson Royal bettering that tally on either side.

He also made four clearances and two interceptions.

But the most remarkable figure came in the number of key passes Dallas made during the contest.

He managed five. To put that into context, no Leeds player managed more than two. Tottenham meanwhile, managed five between them.

Ultimately, it was a frustrating day for Leeds. But there are more promising signs.

And Dallas’ display along with Forshaw and Phillips around the defence and midfield was most definitely one of the biggest reasons for encouragement.
