Five key passes, 10 crosses: Celtic star a surprise attacking threat for country on Sunday night, in 1-0 win

Josip Juranovic was a surprise attacking threat on Sunday night as Croatia secured a 1-0 win over Russia – and the Celtic star’s stats are proof.

Juranovic, 26, has been solid for Celtic since joining the club. Brought in as a right-back, the defender has been used at left-back by Ange Postecoglou.

That is because of the form of Anthony Ralston on the right – which has seen Ralston break into the Scotland set-up. Juranovic has played 11 times.

A 15-time Croatia international, the right-back started for his country on Sunday night. Against Russia, it was a one-game shootout.

Whoever won would qualify for the 2022 World Cup, while the loser would have to go into the play-offs. A late own goal saw Croatia win 1-0.

Juranovic lasted 74 minutes alongside the likes of Dejan Lovren, Luka Modric, Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic and more.

Juranovic stats: Celtic star a surprise attacking threat for Croatia

Juranovic has scored two goals for Celtic in his 11 games, and is clearly very strong from the penalty spot. But for Croatia, he showed a different side.

that he laid on five key passes on Sunday night – more than any other player on the pitch. Mario Pasalic was second, with three.

Not only that, but Juranovic produced 10 crosses into the box – four of which were successful. He was an outlet, and a threat.

A brilliant performance, that will have delighted Celtic fans – showing a slightly different side to Juranovic. One, Celtic fans will hope to see.
