Five ins and outs Newcastle United could complete this week

It has been another summer of frustration and false promises for Newcastle but fortunately Rafael Benitez has a habit of making something out of nothing.

The few arrivals that have occurred so far at St. James’ Park, Ki Sung-yeung, Martin Dubravka and Kenedy, will provide a huge boost to the Magpies first-team squad as they seek to avoid second-season syndrome and retain their Premier League spot.

It could be a busy few weeks for incoming and outgoing business on Tyneside and we have identified five deals that could go ahead this week.

Aleksandar Mitrovic to Fulham

A story that has rumbled on for months, it seems that Aleksandar Mitrovic’s permanent transfer to Fulham is set to go ahead as stated over the weekend he was in London finalising his transfer to the newly-promoted club.

Set to cost , it is easy to see why Rafael Benitez has cashed in on the 22-year-old Serbia international and it is likely he will immediately reinvest those funds into his squad at St. James’ Park.

Mitrovic should be an instant hit at Craven Cottage after hitting 12 goals in 20 Championship games during the second half of last season on-loan at Fulham, helping the Cottagers secure a return to the top-flight.

Yoshinori Muto: Mainz

It is likely to be a case of one in and one out this week at Newcastle in regards to strikers, as  reports that the Magpies have agreed a deal to bring Japan international forward Yoshinori Muto in from Mainz.

The 26-year-old featured for his nation at the World Cup and will arrive on Tyneside to hopefully strengthen the Magpies in the final third, after Benitez’s side struggled for consistency in front of goal last season.

“He played in the World Cup in a good team. He has done well in the Bundesliga, so we’re talking about a striker that’s doing well in the last few years at international level.”

Dwight Gayle to West Brom

Another story that has rumbled on throughout the transfer window concerns Dwight Gayle, who looks set to leave Tyneside to complete a move to recently relegated West Brom – with suggesting it could be a swap deal.

It is not clear yet whether a deal would be a player-plus-cash on a straight loan swap but the 27-year-old looks set to return to the second-tier, where he excelled in Newcastle’s promotion winning campaign two years ago by scoring 23 goals in 32 appearances.

Gayle struggled in the Premier League, however, scoring just twice last season.

Salomon Rondon: West Brom

The other part of the deal with West Brom looks set to see Salomon Rondon move to Tyneside, report, in what could either be a loan deal or a permanent switch – depending on what is agreed regarding Gayle.

Speculation linking Newcastle with Rondon has been present for some time and it is interesting to see that it looks like both the Venezuela international and Yoshinori Muto will be brought into the club, which may suggest a tactical shake-up.

Rondon scored seven goals and provided three assists for West Brom last season, finishing as joint top-scorer alongside Jay Rodriguez.

Jamaal Lascelles to Leicester City

Newcastle fans could be set for a very nervous few days if reports are to be believed, as states Leicester City are eyeing a swoop for captain Jamaal Lascelles amidst Manchester United’s interest in World Cup icon Harry Maguire.

It is not the first time the highly-rated Newcastle skipper has been linked with an exit and it is unsurprising to see the  state that the Magpies will resist any approaches for the 24-year-old, although it is difficult to see them rejecting an approach worth over £30 million.

Newcastle hold the trump cards though as Leicester will not accept a sale of Maguire until a replacement is secured, so they could stand firm.
